Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Sacramento, California featured one new match officially announced, one new updated match, and one new potential match for WWE Fastlane 2023, which takes place on October 7th in Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

This match was setup following Flair defeating Bayley in a singles match on the show. Prior to the match, Flair gave a promo stating that she would challenge SKY for her title if she beat Bayley. Following Flair’s victory, Bayley grabbed the microphone and stated that she was not joking when she said she would end Flair tonight. This led to Damage CTRL surrounding the ring but was quickly stopped by Asuka who ran out. Asuka then demanded a title shot against SKY. Bayley responded on IYO’s behalf granting Asuka and Flair a title shot in a Triple Threat match at Fastlane.

In regards to the new updated match, this was announced to be a tag team match of John Cena & LA Knight vs. The Bloodline (Jimmy Uso & Solo Sikoa).
This match was setup following an in-ring promo segment by Cena who stated that he was not going to tear up the match contract due to AJ Styles being injured at the hands of the Bloodline. Cena stated that if he could not find a new tag team partner by the time of WWE’s Fastlane event, then he would go at it alone against the Bloodline. This led to the Uso and Sikoa coming out and a brawl broke out. Following the Bloodline getting the upper hand, Sikoa prepared to smash Cena through the announcer’s table but was interrupted by Knight’s music, who ran out to save Cena. After sending the Bloodline running, Knight signed the match contract making him as Cena’s official tag team partner.

Lashley told them to do something if they wanted to be back in his good graces and remain as a group. Later in the show, Rey Mysterio defeated Santos Escobar in a long drawn out match to retain his United States Championship. Right before Mysterio and Escobar were able to shake hands after the match, Street Profits launched an ambush attack on both Mysterio and Escobar while Lashley came out to approve of their actions. Lashley and the Street Profits also quickly took out Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro who ran out trying to save their fellow LWO members. NXT talent Dragon Lee who was sitting at ringside tried to get involved to save the LWO only to be stopped by WWE security.
