Adam Copeland (Edge) Makes Official AEW Debut at AEW WrestleDream

Sunday’s AEW WrestleDream event at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington featured Adam Copeland, former WWE wrestler Edge, make his surprise official debut for AEW.

In the main event of the show, Christian Cage managed to successfully defend his TNT Championship against Darby Allin in a Best 2-out-of-3 Falls match. This match involved Allin and Cage being at one fall each and went to a deciding third fall that resulted in Nick Wayne turning on Allin and striking him with the TNT belt. This led to Cage getting the pinfall for the 2 falls to 1 falls victory score.

Following the match, Cage, Wayne, and Luchasaurus launched a post-match attack on Allin which led to Sting coming out trying to save Allin. After a brief moment of hope, Cage and his pals overwhelmed Sting. Before Cage was able to hit Sting with a ConChairTo attack, the lights went out and a grindhouse style video played featuring a mysterious person driving to the arena.

This mystery person was revealed to be Copeland who made his surprise debut for AEW coming out to his “Metalingus” theme song and was announced to be going by his real name of Adam Copeland in the company. Copeland first teased siding with Cage and was given a chair to finish off Sting. Instead, Copeland attacked Wayne with a chair shot and hit back-to-back Spears on Luchasuaurs and Wayne while Cage ran out of the ring.

Following the show, AEW CEO Tony Khan confirmed on Twitter that Copeland had recently signed an official contract with AEW.
