WWE NXT Notes: NXT Women’s Title for Halloween Havoc Night 1, Women’s Breakout Tournament, New North American Champion

NXT Women’s Title Match Announced for NXT Halloween Havoc 2023 Night 1

Tuesday’s NXT show featured one official match announced for the card of Night 1 of NXT Halloween Havoc 2023, which takes place on October 24th.

This match announced was a NXT Women’s Championship match of Lyra Valkyria vs. Becky Lynch (c).

This match was initially setup during an in-ring promo segment involving Lynch, Valkyria, Indi Hartwell, and Roxanne Perez. Following Lynch declaring NXT to now be the “N-Becks-T” show, Lynch stated that she was not medically cleared to compete and neither was Tiffany Stratton after the beating they gave each other at NXT No Mercy. Lynch also stated how she is a fighting champion and is eyeing Night 1 of this year’s Halloween Havoc show for another NXT Women’s title defense. This led to Valkyria, Hartwell, and Perez coming out one after another and each giving their reasons why they should get that opportunity. Lynch responded stating that all three would be competing in a Triple Threat match on tonight’s show with the winner to get that title shot and she would be on guest commentary for it.

Later in the show, Valkyria defeated Hartwell and Perez in a #1 Contender’s Triple Threat match to earn a title shot for the NXT Women’s Championship at Night 1 of NXT Halloween Havoc 2023.

The finish to this match involved Perez hitting a Pop Rox to Hartwell for a pinfall attempt that was interrupted by Kiana James coming out and yanking Perez out of the ring. This led to Lynch getting up from her chair on commentary and laid out James. This provided the opening for Valkyria to hit a top rope splash to Hartwell for the pinfall victory.

Kelani Jordan Advances in 2023 NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament

Tuesday’s WWE NXT show also featured one match for this year’s NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament.

This match involved Kelani Jordan defeating Izzi Dame to advance to the next round of the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament.

Jordan will face off against the winner of the Arianna Grace vs. Jakara Jackson in the Semi-Finals Round of this year’s tournament.

Dominik Mysterio Beats Trick Williams for NXT North American Championship

Tuesday’s NXT show also featured Dominik Mysterio defeating Trick Williams for the NXT North American Championship in the main event match of the show.

The finish to this match involved Judgement Day launching a barrage of interference attacks that Williams tried to fight off and the referee attempted to stop. This led to JD McDonagh managing to successful attack Williams with the NXT North American title while the referee was not looking leading to Mysterio hitting a Frog Splash for the pinfall victory to become the new NXT North American Champion.
