As noted before, MJF suffered a dislocated hip injury and a shoulder-related injury at AEW’s Full Gear 2023 event earlier this month.

In a now-deleted Twitter on Monday, MJF stated that he had suffered a torn labrum injury at AEW’s event but he is still planning to defend his AEW World Championship at AEW’s Worlds End event next month in Long Island, New York.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that MJF’s injury is legitimate and not just for storyline purposes. MJF reportedly is currently hopeful of not needing surgery and will be undergoing treatment to rehab his shoulder.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that his sources also confirmed that MJF’s injury is legitimate and stated that the current plans are for him to undergo stem cell treatment for his rehab.

More on QT Marshall’s Resignation from AEW & Upcoming Departure

As noted before, QT Marshall announced on Monday that he has officially resigned from AEW and will be departing from the company at the end of the year.

Haus of Wrestling’s Nick Hausman reported that his sources close to Marshall stated that the main issue leading to Marshall’s decision to leave AEW was due to him feeling that AEW was moving more towards a “NJPW-related direction” with more of a focus on in-ring wrestling over storytelling.

Hausman reported that those spoken to also stated that following Cody Rhodes’ departure in 2022, Marshall’s influence within AEW began to “deteriorate quickly” despite his position as Vice President of Show & Event Coordination. Marshall reportedly also had wanted to focus more on being an in-ring talent over being a coach, which was something he had made well known within the company.

In regards to the reaction within AEW, Dave Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that Marshall leaving the company was something that many had known for months while others did not. Meltzer reported that Marshall’s intent to leave the AEW was something that was not a secret internally.

In regards to Marshall’s potential next destination, both Hausman and Meltzer reported that WWE would likely be his next destination due to his close friendship with Rhodes but Marshall does not believe that WWE officials would allow him to be a wrestler and coach with them. Meltzer reported that Marshall’s frustrations over wanting to be a wrestling star was something that Marshall had expressed openly within AEW prior to his decision.
