Orange Cassidy Retains AEW International Title & El Hijo del Vikingo Retains AAA Mega Title at Friday’s Rampage Show
Friday’s taped Rampage Holiday Bash 2023 show featured two championship matches.
The first title match was Orange Cassidy defeating Rocky Romero to retain his AEW International Championship.
The finish to this match involved Romero attempting a Strong Zero to Cassidy who escaped the hold. Cassidy and Romero exchanged roll-ups for near falls each leading to Romero hitting a knee strike to Cassidy and followed it with a Spinning DDT and Strong Zero for a near fall. Romero then attempted a Standing Slice Bread to Cassidy who countered by escaping and hit an Orange Punch and followed it with a Beach Break for the pinfall victory to retain his AEW International title.
The second match was El Hijo del Vikingo defeating Black Taurus to retain his AAA Mega Championship.
The finish to this match involved Vikingo hitting a Sky Twister Press to Taurus onto the floor. After both guys got back into the ring, Vikingo hit a enziguri to Taurus and followed it with a springboard Poison Rana and a Crucifix Bomb which led to Taurus hitting a spear to Vikingo in return causing both guys to be laid out for a while.
Taurus placed Vikingo onto the top rope and climbed up and hit an Avalanche Gorilla Press Slam to Vikingo sending him flying across the ring. Taurus then applied a Toruture Rack to Vikingo and followed it with a backbreaker, powerbomb, and discus lariat combo for a near fall. Vikingo responded by hitting a spin kick and a sunset powerbomb to Taurus. Vikingo then hit a running Meteora to Taurus in the corner and followed it with a Canadian Destroyer, running double knees strike, and a 630 Senton for the pinfall victory to retain his AAA Mega title.
