As noted before, Kyle O’Reilly has been out of action for AEW since June of 2022 due to a neck-related and other injuries. O’Reilly had underwent neck fusion surgery in September of 2022 to repair his neck injury.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that O’Reilly has been backstage at recent AEW shows and the current feeling within the company is that it is looking more likely that O’Reilly could make a return to AEW programming at some point in the future. This reportedly is a change in view compared to this past summer where the general belief was that things were not looking promising for O’Reilly for a potential return.
It was reported that AEW officials have not factored O’Reilly into any creative plans for over the past year due to his injuries nor do they currently have any sort of a timetable for his potential return.
It was also reported that O’Reilly has bee working out with a strength and conditioning coach as part of his rehab process.
