WWE reportedly recently dropped SmackDown lead commentator Kevin Patrick from their SmackDown commentary team, according to SESCoops’ Aaron Varble.
Varble reported that his sources stated that WWE officials have yet to name a replacement for Patrick and the reason for the change was due to WWE officials feeling that things were just not working out with Patrick as the lead commentator.
Varbel also reported that Patrick will be moving to a backstage interviewer role for the SmackDown brand going forward.
The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer and PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that their sources confirmed Varble’s report about Patrick’s removal from SmackDown’s commentary team. Johnson reported that his sources stated that WWE officials made this decision on Monday evening.
