As noted before, Tama Tonga was set to leave New Japan Pro Wrestling at this end of this past January due to family-related reasons. Tonga’s final match with NJPW took place at this past Saturday’s NJPW The New Beginning in Sapporo 2024 Night 2 event in Sapporo, Japan.
Dave Meltzer reported in a special preview edition of this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources within WWE stated that Tonga is currently expected to be joining the company soon.
Prior to his departure, Tonga had been with NJPW since 2010.
