Kevin Owens, Logan Paul, Tiffany Stratton, & Naomi Qualify for Men’s & Women’s Elimination Chamber Matches

Friday’s SmackDown show featured two Men’s Elimination Chamber qualifiers and two Women’s Elimination Chamber qualifier matches.

In regards to the Men’s Elimination Chamber qualifier matches, the first Men’s qualifier match was Kevin Owens defeating Dominik Mysterio.

The finish to this match involved Owens attempting a Stunner to Mysterio only for Mysterio to counter with a kick sending Owens into the ropes. Mysterio then hit a 619 and told R-Truth at ringside to get him a chair if he wants to actually be part of Judgement Day. R-Truth looked around for a chair and pulled one out of the timekeeper’s area. R-Truth walked towards Mysterio but then unfolded the chair and sat on it while Mysterio gave a surprised look over what just happened. This led to Mysterio being distracted long enough for Owens to hit a superkick and followed it with a pop-up powerbomb for the pinfall victory to secure his spot in this year’s Men’s Elimination Chamber match.

The second Men’s qualifier match was Logan Paul defeating The Miz.

The finish to this match involved Paul attempting to strike Miz only for Miz to dodge and locked in a Figure Four Leg Lock in return which Paul managed to break by grabbing the bottom rope. Paul then rolled to the outside and was followed by The Miz who got speared by Paul into the barricade and tossed back into the ring. While the referee was distracted Paul looked at his friend Jake at ringside who handed him brass knuckles. This led to The Miz attacking Paul from behind and grabbing the brass knuckles but was immediatly warned by the referee that if he used it, then he would be disqualified. The Miz then tossed the brass knuckles away and tossed Paul back into the ring. The Miz then tried to get back into the ring only for Paul to grab his leg and slammed it onto the ropes. Paul then hit a right hand punch to Miz and followed it with an Inverted Skull Crushing Finale for the pinfall victory to secure the final spot in this year’s Men’s Money in the Bank match.

In regards to the Women’s Elimination Chamber qualifier matches, the first Women’s qualifier match was Tiffany Stratton defeating Zelina Vega.

The finish to this match involved Vega getting into a shouting altercation with Elektra Lopez and Legado Del Fantasma who were sitting at ringside in the crowd. Vega then tossed Lopez over the barricade and got back into the ring only for Stratton to quickly hit a spinebuster to Vega and followed it with a Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the pinfall victory to secure her spot in this year’s Women’s Elimination Chamber match.

The second Men’s qualifier match was Naomi defeating Alba Fyre.

The finish to this match involved Fyre shoving Naomi into the ropes leading to Isla Dawn at ringside striking Naomi in the face while the referee was not looking. Fyre rolled up Naomi for a nearfall and attempted to attack her again only for Naomi to hit Fyre with a knee strike. This led to Dawn getting on the apron to interfere but was quickly struck down by Naomi. Naomi then rolled up Fyre and locked in a Starstruck for the submission victory to secure her spot in this year’s Women’s Elimination Chamber match.

Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne Reveal New Tag Team Name at Friday’s SmackDown Show

Friday’s SmackDown show also featured Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne officially revealing their new tag team name in WWE.

This was revealed following a backstage interview segment involving Dunne and Bate. SmackDown backstage interviewer Kayla Braxton asked Dunne and Bate for their thoughts leading to Dunne stating that things were going great for them and last week was proof of that. Dunne then stated all that is left to do is to slap Judgement Day and win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team titles at Elimination Chamber. Bate responded stating that they need a new team name and came up with “New Catch Republic” for his idea. Dominik Mysterio showed up interrupting Bate and Dunne and after some back-and-forth banter, Bate and Dunne challenged Mysterio and R-Truth to a tag team match next week. This led to Mysterio angrily responding back that R-Truth was not in Judgement Day as he walked away.

Bron Breakker Joins SmackDown Brand

Friday’s SmackDown show also featured the announcement of NXT talent Bron Breakker officially joining WWE’s SmackDown brand.

This was initially setup over the past couple weeks of RAW and SmackDown shows involving SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis and RAW General Manager Adam Pearce trying to get Breakker to sign with their brand over the other one.

During tonight’s show, Aldis was seen backstage with Breakker and Jade Cargill in his office with two SmackDown contracts on a table. Before anything else could happen, Tiffany Stratton walked into the room and confronted Liv Morgan and Bianca Belair who were just relaxing in the room. After some banter between the three and Cargill, Aldis told Stratton that this was not the time for this stuff and had Stratton leave the room. Aldis then went back to Breakker and Cargill and picked up the SmackDown contract that Breakker was holding while Cargill’s contract was left on the table as the three left the room.

In a follow-up segment, Aldis came out to the stage and announced that he had been in talks with several free agents to potentially join his SmackDown brand. Aldis stated that one of them was no longer a free agent and announced that Breakker had signed an official contract to join his brand. Breakker then came out and the two shook hands while several photographers took photos of them.

Classic Heel Rock Makes Return at Friday’s SmackDown Show

Friday’s SmackDown show also featured Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson officially bringing back his Classic Heel Rock character.

Following the Bloodline coming out to the ring and Roman Reigns doing his usual “acknowledge me” routine, Reigns stated that The Rock has now become an official member of The Bloodline.

This led to The Rock’s music playing and him coming out wearing a vest inspired by his 90s era Heel Rock character.

The Rock made his way to the ring and gave a promo heavily inspired by his Classic Heel and Hollywood era characters featuring him verbally destroying the Salt Lake City folks, the Utah Jazz, and Cody Rhodes’ fans calling them “spoiled, entitled, little cry baby bitches.” Despite this, the crowd still cheered at times and tried to chant along with The Rock who put a stop to them joining in and saying they lost the right to do so. The Rock also bashed and shut down hecklers and those giving him “what” chants that was heavily Classic Heel Rock inspired for insults.

During his promo, The Rock mocked Rhodes’ “finish the story” quest and brought up how the 49ers losing this past Sunday’s NFL Super Bowl game and the Utah Jazz losing in the NBA Finals twice to the Chicago Bulls did not lead them to whine about not “finishing their story” like Rhodes and his fans have done towards him. The Rock claimed that he will do everything in his power to make sure Rhodes walks out of WrestleMania as a loser. The Rock also stated that Cody’s story is just ending and The Bloodline’s story is just beginning. The Rock then started his trademark “If You Smell” catchphrase to end his promo before stopping himself to tell the crowd to shut up trying to chant back and said “If you small what The Bloodline is cooking.” The Rock and The Bloodline then raised their fingers up in the air to close out the show.
