As noted before, El Hijo del Vikingo suffered a serious right knee injury at an indie event in Mexico this past February. Viking’s AAA Mega Championship reign status was believed to be in serious doubt.
Lucha Libre AAA recently announced that they have officially vacated the AAA Mega Championship due to the severity of Vikingo’s injury and will be crowning a new champion at their Triplemania XXXII Monterrey event on April 27th in Monterrey, Mexico.
It was also announced that a Three-way match will be held at the event to crown a new champion and qualifiers will be held to determine the spot. The first qualifier was held at AAA’s Origenes event on Saturday in Mexico City involving Alberto El Patron defeating Cibernético and Psycho Clown in a Three-way qualifying match.
