More on AEW Dynamite Viewership for March 27th

The March 27th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a large decline in overall viewership and a small decline in key demographic ratings.

AEW drew 747,000 viewers and a 0.23 key demographic rating on TBS. AEW’s key demographic ranking for that night was 3rd place.

Detailed key demographic viewership breakdowns were not available in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Dave Meltzer reported that the main reasons for AEW’s declines this week was due to the large decline in their overall key demographic viewership group, which was down 16.2% compared to last week’s show, and younger key demographic viewership group, which was down 34% compared to last week’s show. Meltzer reported that AEW’s overall viewership was the lowest since the April 7, 2021 show and their key demographic viewership was the lowest since the June 24, 2020 show for a Dynamite show in its regular time slot. Meltzer also reported that AEW’s lead-in programming Big Bang Theory drew 1,179,000 viewers and a 0.22 key demographic rating.

In terms of notable head-to-head competition, the NBA game of Los Angeles Clippers vs. Philadelphia 76ers drew 1,225,000 viewers on ESPN, the NHL game of Boston Bruins vs. Tampa Bay Lightning drew 472,000 viewers on TNT, Survivor drew 4,721,000 viewers on CBS, My 600-LB Life drew 480,000 viewers on TLC, Top Chef drew 485,000 viewers on BRAVO, and Guys Grocery Games drew 469,000 viewers on Food Network.

In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 301,000 viewers. Meltzer reported that AEW’s males/females viewership skew was 67.1% in favor of males.

In terms of the one million viewership milestone, none of AEW’s eight quarters drew one million or more viewers. AEW’s peak quarter hour viewership was at 939,000 viewers for their first quarter while their quarter low was at 654,000 viewers for their seventh quarter.

In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was down 10.3% in overall viewership and down 18.6% in key demographic viewership. Meltzer reported that AEW’s 18-34 viewership was down 36.7% compared to the same week last year.

  • 2Q – 802,000 overall viewers and 300,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the Ospreay vs. Shibata match, the Bryan Danielson hype video package segment, and the Young Bucks backstage interview segment)
  • 3Q – 711,000 overall viewers and 284,000 key demo viewers (Kazuchika Okada video segment and the bulk of the AEW World Tag Team Championship Quarterfinal match of The Young Bucks vs. Private Party)
  • 4Q – 776,000 overall viewers and 332,000 key demo viewers (Ending of the Young Bucks vs. Private Party match, the Konosuke Takeshita hype video package segment, the Mercedes Mone backstage segment, the Darby Allin & Tony Hawk video segment, and the Chris Jericho & HOOK backstage segment)
  • 5Q – 771,000 overall viewers and 320,000 key demo viewers (TBS Championship #1 Contender Four-way match of Willow Nightingale vs. Kris Statlander vs. Skye Blue vs. Anna Jay & post-match angle with Nightingale, Julia Hart, & Mercedes Mone)
