As noted before, Cash Wheeler was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm in August of 2023 in Florida following an alleged road rage and firearm brandishing incident in July of 2023 in the state.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that the Florida Prosecutor’s office filed a “Nolle Prosequi” notice on Monday afternoon to the court based on recent court records. Johnson reported that in legal terms, this means that the prosecution had opted to drop and abandon the case against Wheeler. Johnson also reported that it is currently not known why state prosecutors made that decision nor why it took them until the week before the start of Wheeler’s trial to officially drop their prosecution.
Prior to the notice filing, Wheeler had been scheduled to attend a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday afternoon and a trial had been scheduled for May 20th, both of which have been cancelled as a result. Johnson reported that Wheeler’s bond has been released and the case against him was officially closed as of 3PM on Monday.
Prior to the prosecutor’s decision, Wheeler had been facing the possibility of up to five years in prison, five years probation, and a $5,000 fine had he been convicted of the charges against him under Florida law.
