Update:
The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in Friday’s Daily Update that his sources provided an update confirming that Ivar’s injury is indeed legitimate and not just for storyline reasons.
Meltzer reported that Gallus attacking Ivar at this past Tuesday’s NXT show was meant to be WWE officials way of writing out Ivar for the foreseeable future due to his injury situation.
Ivar provided an update on Twitter clarifying reports regarding his current injury situation and confirmed that his injury is legitimate.
That being said, I Want to thank everyone for the out pouring of love and support, not only after finding out I was injured but thru out the last several months, I have heard you all!

As noted before, WWE recently announced that Ivar had suffered an “injury” at this past Tuesday’s NXT show and would be out of action for an indefinite period of time. In a follow-up announcement, WWE announced that due to Ivar’s injury situation, they pulled him from their WWE Speed Championship #1 Contender’s tournament and Apollo Crews would be replacing Ivar for his scheduled tournament match against Tyler Bate.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that Ivar’s injury is not legitimate and instead is just for storyline reasons. Meltzer reported that Ivar was recently granted some time off as a break due to he had been working so hard of late in WWE.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources denied Meltzer’s report being accurate and stated that Ivar’s injury is not a work and instead is legitimate.
Sapp reported that the severity of Ivar’s injury is currently not known but those spoken to stated that Ivar has long wrestled as if he is on “borrowed time” after his double fusion neck surgery several years ago.
Fueling speculation of Ivar’s injury being legitimate and not a work involves a recent tweet from Andrews Sports Medicine that stated that Ivar has visited them to overcome a spinal-related injury. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that when a WWE talent usually travels to the clinic, it means that they will be undergoing surgery to repair an injury.
Thank you @Ivar_WWE for trusting in Dr. Andrew Cordover and his team to help you achieve #VictoryOverInjury!
