FTR’s Dax Harwood announced on Twitter on Monday that he has been dealing with a hematoma injury in his lower back since this past April and had kept it as a secret from everyone until very recently.
Harwood stated that he apologizes to AEW CEO and President Tony Khan, AEW’s medical staff, and AEW’s locker room for not informing them of his medical situation since he thought he could tough it out.
Harwood stated that he suffered the injury at this past April’s AEW Dynasty event during FTR’s match against the Young Bucks for the vacant AEW World Tag Team Championship. Harwood stated that when he gave Matt Jackson a piledriver through a ladder, it messed up his lower back and caused a hematoma to develop.
Harwood continued stating that following FTR’s match against Blackpool Combat Club’s Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli at this past Saturday’s AEW Collision show, he went to put ice on his hematoma injury and that it grew to the size of a “football at the very least.” Harwood stated that he thought he could tough it out and did not want FTR to be taken off the road.
Harwood stated that he got an X-ray for his lower back and when he told AEW ringside physician Michael J. Sampson about his injury, Sampson immediately took him off the road. Harwood also stated that Sampson had told him that his injury could have led to retirement if Harwood continued wrestling as he was doing.
Harwood also stated that he currently does not know how long he will be out of action for his recovery.
An explanation that I feel I owe everyone. The fans, my boss, the medical team, and the whole roster.
