CM Punk Makes Surprise Appearance & Costs Drew McIntyre Shot at WWE World Title

Saturday’s WWE Clash at the Castle 2024 event also featured CM Punk making a surprise appearance and costing Drew McIntyre the chance at winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Near the end of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between McIntyre and Damian Priest, McIntyre grabbed Priest and sent him into the corner causing the referee to get hit by accident and the referee crashing out to the floor. McIntyre then hit a Claymore Kick for a near fall that had no referee around to count until one ran out to the ring. This referee’s face was obstructed by the camera and counted to two before stopping. This referee revealed himself to be CM Punk and gave McIntyre the middle finger leading to an angry McIntyre confronting Punk in the corner only to get a low blow kick in return by Punk. This led to the original referee regaining his senses and got back into the ring as Priest hit a South of Heaven to McIntyre for the pinfall victory.

Following the match, Punk gave high fives to some Punk fans in the crowd while the rest of the crowd was quiet and dejected over their hometown guy’s loss. McIntyre looked on at Punk who was gloating over what he did moments earlier costing McIntyre the chance to win the title.
