The Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada gained a lot of notoriety in the sports industry over being the host of this past June’s 2024 NHL Draft. The venue received a lot of praise from NHL and sports fans for its “The Sphere Experience” showing off the venue’s innovative design and technical achievements that enhanced the visual presentation and layout of NHL’s Draft compared to prior years Draft.
Since opening in September of 2023, the venue has become one of Las Vegas’ most popular tourist attractions and has a capacity of 18,600 for events.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that multiple wrestling companies have recently shown significant interest in potentially running events at the venue in the future.
Those spoken to connected to the venue reportedly stated that wrestling companies have inquired about holding events at The Sphere but not before 2025 at the earliest. It was also reported that while inquires have been made, there have been no plans set of yet for the venue to host wrestling events in the future.
It was also reported that AEW’s Double or Nothing 2024 event this past May had been originally planned to take place in another venue in the city before AEW officials decided upon the MGM Grand Garden Arena. It was also reported that due to WWE holding next year’s WrestleMania 41 event and other shows in the city during that week, there is a strong possibility that AEW might not run next year’s Double or Nothing event at the venue.
