As noted before, Friday’s WWE SmackDown show in Nashville, Tennessee featured AJ Styles suffering an ankle injury resulting in his match against Carmelo Hayes being called off. It was not known at the time if Styles injury was legitimate or just for storyline purposes.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Styles is currently feeling fine and his injury was not legitimate and instead was just done for storyline purposes.
WWE backstage correspondent Jackie Redmond provided an update earlier today on Twitter stating that Styles had suffered a “mid foot ligament sprain” injury. Redmond also stated that Styles will be undergoing an MRI later this week.
Coming out of Smackdown last night, I can confirm that AJ Styles suffered a “mid foot ligament sprain” also known as a Lisfranc injury.
