Alisha Edwards Concussion Injury Update – Edwards Hoping to be Medically Cleared for TNA’s Bound For Glory 2024 Event

As noted before, Alisha Edwards has been out of action for TNA Wrestling since this past August due to a head-related injury that was believed to be a concussion.

A recent episode of the Reffin’ It Up podcast featured Edwards as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Edwards’ thoughts about her suffering a concussion injury at TNA’s Emergence 2024 event.

“I mean, literally it was the opening spot, and it was a dive, a house show dive, and I was on the outside to catch. Jody’s elbow came down and hit me straight in the temple. Jody Threat, her elbow hit me in the temple, and I was knocked out, completely unconscious. It was wild. Then there was more people in the match, so they continued the match. Then that kind of all happened. So I was knocked out for at least probably, this is all obviously who attended to me right after because obviously I was knocked out, so I wouldn’t really know, and I’ve seen the footage and stuff. I was knocked out, and then it was so much movement that happened that I don’t think they knew. It was the house show dive, I got knocked out, then there was supposed to be another dive, which the two girls got up for that one, still didn’t notice I was knocked out. Then there was the other dive. There was three back-to-back dives, so I got knocked out the first one. There was so much stuff happening, no one really noticed until they went to get me to do the next thing almost at that point, and I wasn’t responsive at that point either. Then the doctor came, and then I came to it, and we went to the back.

It is my first real injury. I’ve never had a concussion before. I’ve been pretty fortunate and lucky. It was a pretty bad one. It’s the first time I took time off. I haven’t wrestled since then, so it’s been eight weeks. It’s the first time I kind of needed to take a break and just step back a little bit and let my body kind of rest. It was kind of a little eye-opener I guess.”

Edwards also gave her thoughts about how she was feeling the following day after her injury.

“It was Emergence and then we had the next day of TV tapings. The next day, I continued in work mode and I really didn’t want to process it. Days after is when I realized how serious it was. A lot of people, not even from just TNA but a lot of friends from other companies, reached out to me or Eddie (Edwards) and were concerned. I really think it scared a lot of people. That’s when I realized it’s not just me being knocked loopy for a few seconds, it’s serious. That’s when I needed to step back and go, ‘Lish, you might feel good but maybe it’s time for you to relax.’ I had to shut work down for a few week. I got a CAT scan and was doing the right things and right protocol. It’s been a project in itself. I’m just glad everything worked out and nothing serious happened.”

Edwards also gave her thoughts about TNA officials handling her injury situation well and being supportive to her.

“Yes, I think TNA has been supportive in the whole situation and we’re trying to figure out what protocol works for stuff like this so it doesn’t happen or it’s better the next time it happens.”

Edwards also provided an update on her recovery status and her being hopeful of being able to be medically cleared this weekend.

“I feel good. I’m ready to go. I’m hoping I can get cleared for this weekend.”
