As noted before, the first two of WWE’s NXT shows on The CW are currently listed to have a TV-14 rating compared to the past TV-PG rating for shows on NXT’s former network home of USA Network.
Fightful Select reported that several sources spoken to ranging from production staff to NXT talent stated that none of them had been told of an impending shift in presentation for NXT shows. Those spoken to reportedly also stated that none of them have been told that NXT shows will be TV-14 going forward.
One source spoken to within WWE production stated that it would be strange to see NXT change rating but not RAW and SmackDown. This same source reportedly stated that they believe with NXT moving to network television, this change could be a way to prevent the need to censor crowd chants and other usages of swear words on NXT programming.
It was reported that while none of those spoken to were able to completely rule out a possible shift in age rating for NXT shows, those within WWE were all skeptical of the possibility of the change due to it causing issues with advertisers on the NXT brand.
