Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens Announced for WWE Crown Jewel 2024

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show also featured the first of three new matches announced for the card of WWE’s Crown Jewel 2024 event.

This new match announced was a singles match of Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens.

This match was initially setup during last week’s show following Orton demanding SmackDown GM Nick Aldis to give him a match with Owens at Crown Jewel, which Aldis refused stating that decision was above his pay grade. During tonight’s show, Orton was seen walking backstage and made his way to the Gorilla Position and said some words to WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” before making his way out to the ring.

After entering the ring, Orton grabbed a microphone and talked about wanting a match against Owens and being denied by Aldis at first. Orton then stated that he wanted Triple H to come out so that he can address the person who can make this match a reality. This led to Triple H’s music playing and him coming out to the ring. Orton demanded for Triple H to give him what he wanted and accused Triple H of protecting Owens over his refusal to do so. After some back and forth banter, Triple H stated that he wasn’t protecting Owens but instead he was protecting Orton from himself. Triple H talked about how Owens has never had a friend in this business and took down everyone that was near him. Triple H stated that Orton knows what that is like but for the first time ever, Owens let his guard down and trusted Orton and Cody Rhodes. Triple H then stated that in Kevin’s mind, they turned on him and there is something different in Owens eyes after the last time he spoke to him. Triple H then brought up how Orton just came back after 18 months on the shelf and does not want Orton back on the shelf.

After some more back-and-forth banter, Orton pressured Triple H to accept his match demand by bringing up how he wanted to talk to The Game and the same guy who wore a leather jacket, the guy who came to his home with a sledgehammer and beat him up at his home. That’s who he wants in the middle of the ring to hear him out. This led to Triple H finally relenting and agreed to make the match after the crowd chanted for it to happen. Triple H stated that he hopes to God they know what they are asking for and for Orton from this moment forward to protect himself at all costs.

Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes Best of 7 Series Ends in a Draw, U.S. Title Triple Threat Match Announced for WWE Crown Jewel 2024

Friday’s WWE SmackDown show also featured the second of three new matches announced for the card of WWE’s Crown Jewel 2024 event.

This new match announced was a WWE United States Championship Triple Threat match of Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. LA Knight (c).

This match was setup following Andrade and Hayes’ Best of Series Match #7 ending in a draw over LA Knight getting frustrated with both Andrade and Hayes after they accidentally hit him during their match. This led to Knight rolling out of the ring in frustration and grabbed Hayes leg and yanked him out of the ring after Hayes had hit a cutter on Andrade for the near fall attempt. Knight proceeded to send Hayes into the announcer’s table and got back into the ring to bicker with Andrade that ended with Knight laying out Andrade with a BFT. Knight then left the ring again and rang the bell and grabbed a microphone insulting both Andrade and Hayes and declared himself the winner of the Best of Series.

In a follow-up segment, Knight was seen walking backstage before being stopped by an angry Aldis. After Knight tried to explain his actions, Aldis yelled back and informed Knight that he will now be defending his title against both Andrade and Hayes.
