Saturday’s ESPN SEC Network’s show coverage of the Florida vs. Alabama college football game featured WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Goldberg announcing that he will be retiring from wrestling and his retirement match will be taking place in WWE in 2025.
Goldberg teased that Gunther would likely be his retirement match opponent and stated that he will have a few months to prepare for this match. Goldberg also stated that WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE President Nick Khan, and WWE EVP of Talent Relations and Head of Communications Chris Legentil had signed off on his retirement match being held in the company.
“Here’s the deal, and here’s the news of the day. The news of the day is, per three executives, Nick Khan, Chris Legentil, and Paul Levesque, in 2025, Goldberg’s having his retirement. I think we know who the subject or the victim, probably the front runner right now, we know who it is [points at footage of Gunther]. 2025, Goldberg makes his return/retirement match. I got a couple of months to get ready. No date, no time, so we’ll see.”
