Former WWE and TNA talent Matt Cardona has made several notable appearances for AEW and Ring of Honor in recent weeks, including him competing against Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship at Friday’s ROH Final Battle 2024 event at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Cardona recently was given a contract offer from AEW.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources stated that Cardona had suffered an ankle injury during his match against Jericho at ROH’s Final Battle 2024 event.
Sapp reported that Cardona had to be helped to the back following the match and was seen with crutches following the show. ROH officials reportedly are currently hopeful that Cardona will be okay and that his injury is not serious.
In regards to the status of Cardona’s contract talks with AEW, Sapp reported that those spoken to confirmed that Cardona is currently not under a contract with AEW and ROH.
