As noted before, TNA Wrestling made several changes to their management on Wednesday including Anthony Cicione stepping down as TNA President and Josh Mathews and Christy Hemme departing from the company. Carlos Silva was revealed to be replacing Cicione while George Veras was brought in to become TNA’s new Executive Producer.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that the reason for the recent management changes was due to restructuring plans from TNA’s parent company Anthem.
In regards to Veras taking over as the new Executive Producer, Johnson reported that those spoken to confirmed that Mathews and Hemme’s departures were simply a case of Veras wanting to bring his own hand-picked team to run the production side of TNA. Johnson reported that Vera’s new role in TNA was described to be similar to Lee Fitting’s role within WWE in regards to him overseeing everything on production.
In regards to the reaction within TNA’s locker room, Johnson reported that talent were stated to be very happy about John E. Bravo and Ingrid Isley getting promotions for bigger roles in the company due to both of them are well liked in the locker room. Johnson reported that talent did not show a lot of concern over the other changes made within the company.
In regards to TNA’s current partnership with WWE, Johnson reported that the current expectation is that multiple WWE NXT talents will be appearing at next week’s live Impact! show at Full Sail University.
