As noted before, Kevin Owens is currently out of action for WWE due to a neck injury that will require the need for surgery. Owens’ scheduled match against Randy Orton at WWE’s upcoming WrestleMania 41 event in Las Vegas, Nevada was pulled as a result.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that the current belief was that Owens had underwent surgery for his neck on April 7th. Meltzer reported that the typical recovery for the type of neck surgery for Owens is usually between 12 months to 15 months but there are other forms of neck surgery that could reduce that recovery time.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources denied the portion of Meltzer’s report that stated that Owens had already underwent surgery. Those spoken to reportedly stated that Owens has yet to undergo surgery as of Friday.
Sapp reported that those spoken to within WWE stated that they are currently not expecting Owens to return from his injury in 2025. Those spoken to reportedly also stated that it is possible that he might also end up missing next year’s WrestleMania 42 event.
In a follow-up report, Meltzer issued a correction in Friday’s Daily Update confirming that Owens had yet to undergo surgery.
