As noted before, Mayu Iwatani departed from Stardom following this past Sunday’s All Star Grand Queendom 2025 event in Yokohama, Japan.
Marigold held a press conference earlier today in Japan to announce that Iwatani has officially signed a contract with their company.
During the press conference, Iwatani stated that the reason for her departure from Stardom was due to she had already dome everything she could do in the promotion and her current goal in Marigold is to become a Grand Slam champion. Iwatani also stated that Marigold having a relationship with WWE was also a small factor in her decision to join Marigold since it meant the possibility of getting to wrestle IYO SKY, Kairi Sane, and Giulia again.
Iwatani also revealed that her new nickname in Marigold will be “The Joshi Puroresu Icon.”
It was also announced that Iwatani will be making her official debut for the company at their May 4th event at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. It was announced that Iwatani will be competing in a singles match against Nanae Takahashi at the event.
