Backstage Reaction Over R-Truth’s Departure from WWE Reportedly Very Negative

As noted before, R-Truth announced earlier today that he was released from WWE. R-Truth’s departure was revealed to have been due to his contract not being renewed by WWE.

Following R-Truth’s announcement, many WWE talents and personalities responded on social media giving their outpouring support of Truth and the big impact he had on their lives and careers in the company. Besides those within WWE, many former WWE talents also gave their outpouring support of R-Truth on social media as well.

Fightful Select reported that their sources close to the situation stated that R-Truth was informed that WWE’s decision to let him go had nothing to do with any misconduct or backstage issues. WWE officials reportedly made it clear that he had done nothing wrong to warrant his release from the company.

It was reported that R-Truth’s release was a surprise to many including R-Truth himself. Many within WWE reportedly had widely considered Truth to be a “WWE lifer.”

In regards to the backstage reaction over Truth’s departure, it was reportedly that the general reaction has been overwhelmingly negative. One top WWE star reportedly described the decision as “total nonsense” while another talent reportedly called the company’s leadership “ruthless.”

It was reported that the general backlash over Truth’s release is among the strongest WWE has faced in recent memory due to Truth is deeply respected across the locker room. It was reported that it was rare to hear a negative word about him from anyone in the industry.

It was also reported that despite WWE’s decision to not renew Truth’s contract, he remains a strong merchandise seller for the company. Truth’s “Ron Cena” t-shirt for the build-up to his match against John Cena at the May 24th WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event show reportedly was among WWE’s top selling items in recent weeks.

R-Truth reportedly is believed to own the rights to his entrance theme song due to it being a self-produced song dating back to his time with TNA Wrestling.

Several independent wrestling promotions reportedly have already begun expressing interest and reaching out to inquire about booking opportunities and future availability. It was reported that it is currently not known when Truth’s contract with WWE officially expires.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources also confirmed that the general reaction within WWE to R-Truth’s departure was very negative.

Several talents spoken to reportedly initially had believed that Truth’s social media accounts had been hacked or that he was posting it as a joke due to his comedy role in the company. Several talents reportedly went as far as thinking this was an “April Fool’s joke three months later.”

One talent spoken to praised Truth stating that he is the type of personality who adds levity and can be seamlessly put into any type of situation, whether its a match, vignette, etc, and he would contribute in ways in which things were “always going to work.”

Johnson reported that several people spoken to within WWE had questioned why Truth was not offered an ambassadorial role due to how loved he was backstage and by fans.

Several talents reportedly currently feel unsettled with their futures stating that “nothing is guaranteed” in the current landscape of WWE. One talent spoken to reportedly stated that they want to ensure their new contract is negotiated and secure “well in advance” in wake of Truth’s departure.
