Wednesday’s AEW Grand Slam Mexico show at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico featured Mistico defeating MJF by disqualification in a singles match. Following the match, MJF and The Hurt Syndicate attacked Mistico leading to MJF pulling off Mistico’s mask. This led to Bandido, Titan, Templario, & JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & “Speedball” Mike Bailey” running out to save Mistico.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that his sources stated that MJF was approached by a fan who tried to attack him at an airport hotel following the show. Sapp reported that this fan was upset over MJF unmasking Mistico on the show.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that the situation was quickly defused and MJF was unharmed. MJF reportedly laughed the situation off and was very proud of the heat he was able to generate from his post-match antics with Mistico.
Sapp reported that besides the incident with the fan, everyone within AEW was extremely pleased with how their Grand Slam Mexico show turned out. Those within AEW reportedly were also pleased with how their Global Wars Mexico tapings for Ring of Honor also had turned out as well.
