Backstage Update on WWE’s Creative Process for Evolution 2 & More WWE Legends Contacted for Event
As noted before, WWE held a SmackDown taping this past Monday featuring a WWE Hall of Famer making a surprise appearance to setup a match at WWE’s upcoming Evolution 2 event this month.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE recently has contacted a number of WWE Legends for their upcoming Evolution 2 event.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that WWE officials have held talks with several WWE Legends over the past several weeks for potential appearances for their upcoming event. Those spoken to reportedly also stated that some of the creative plans and talks for appearances “came down to the wire.”
It was reported that Liv Morgan’s recent dislocated shoulder injury had caused WWE officials to make some “heavy shifts” to their original plans for their Evolution 2 event as a result.
This report also notes that the unfortunate injury to Liv Morgan resulted in some “heavy shifts” for Evolution.
Chad Gable Undisclosed Injury Status Update – Gable Underwent Shoulder Surgery
As noted before, Chad Gable is currently out of action for WWE due to an undisclosed injury.
Gable provided an update on Tuesday on Instagram stating that he had underwent successful surgery for his shoulder.
A timetable for Gable’s return from his injury is currently not known.

Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that Lucha Libre AAA talent La Hiedra is currently believed to have recently signed a contract with WWE. Sapp reported that his sources stated that La Hiedra recently has been telling multiple people that she needs to clear future dates with WWE. Those spoken to close to La Hiedra reportedly stated that they believe she is now under a contract with WWE but this is something that has yet to be confirmed by sources within WWE or AAA.
Game Changer Wrestling recently announced that they will be holding a new WWE ID Showcase event during SummerSlam 2025 weekend on August 1st in Rutherford, New Jersey.
Rock band A Day To Remember recently released a new music video for their song “All My Friends” featuring Seth Rollins making a guest cameo appearance.
2K Games recently announced that their WWE 2K25 video game will be getting released for the Nintendo Switch on July 23rd.
Riyadh Season recently presented John Cena with a special plaque commemorating his final match of his wrestling career in Saudi Arabia. Cena defeated CM Punk to retain his Undisputed WWE Championship at WWE’s Night of Champions event on June 28th in Riyadh.
Besides John Cena, WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque was also presented a special statue from the Saudi Arabian government following this past weekend’s WWE SmackDown and Night of Champions 2025 shows in the country. Levesque stated “A Symbol of Strength, Honor, and Partnership. 1 of 200. Crafted and lined in 24 carat gold. This handcrafted falcon statue is more than just a gift, it is a tribute to a shared journey of excellence, friendship, partnership, and the powerful cultural bridge we continue to build together. WWE recently released three new videos to their WCW Vault channel on YouTube. The first new video was the full NWA Great American Bash 1985 event. The second new video was the full March 3, 1997 episode of WCW Monday Night Nitro. The third new video was a NWA United States Championship match of Mark Callous vs. Lex Luger (c) from WCW The Great American Bash 1990.
WWE also recently released five new videos to their WWE Vault channel. The first new video was a tag team match of The Hart Brothers (Bret & Owen Hart) vs. The Steiner Brothers (Rick & Scott Steiner) from the WWE WrestleFest 1994 home video. The second new video was a “BRET! New Generation Commercials.” The third new video was a tag team match of Alundra Blayze & Bob Holly vs. Bull Nakano & Hakushi from the WWE WrestleFest 1995 home video. The fourth new video was a “Bret Hart Mixtape: Full Matches, Interviews and BTS Footage.” The fifth new video was an Arkansas Hog Pen match of Henry Godwinn vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley from WWE In Your House 5.
In a recent response to a fan on Twitter, former WWE wrestler Kelly Kelly, real name Barbie Blank, gave her thoughts about the potential of her competing in the Women’s Battle Royal match at WWE’s Evolution 2 event on July 13th in Atlanta. This fan stated “it’s your time to shine for the battle royal at evolution 2 … just saying 🫶 @TheBarbieBlank.” Kelly responded stating “I wish ❤️🤷🏼♀️“
In a recent response to a fan on Twitter, WWE Hall of Famer Michelle McCool gave her thoughts about her being interested in a potential match against Charlotte Flair at WWE’s upcoming Evolution 2 event. This fan stated “I feel like with this short ass Evolution build, this would’ve been the perfect time to just give us Charlotte Flair vs. Michelle McCool.” McCool responded stating “REAL TALK.“
