Drew McIntyre Comments on “Vince McMahon Had a Certain Image Of Me, Triple H Has Different Mindset”

A recent episode of the Impaulsive podcast featured Drew McIntyre as the guest. One of the topics discussed included McIntyre’s thoughts about the differences working under Vince McMahon and Paul “Triple H” Levesque in WWE.

“I mean, it’s different. Obviously, Hunter learned under Vince, and he created the world that we’re currently in. But Hunter is very much of the modern thinking.

For Vince, I think for me personally, he had a certain image of me, and he was always looking to protect me as this warrior character.

If I went to try something outside the box, the stuff I’m doing now, for me personally, it probably wouldn’t happen just because he was like, ‘No, this is my Drew. This is my warrior. This is how I see it.’ And Hunter was very much of the mindset, we’re going to try something different.

We’re going to try this and let you be yourself and let this personality that he knew I had shine. And from the second we had our first conversation when he took over, it’s been exactly that. We’ve developed this McIntyre character and we watched what happened with the Bloodline.”

McIntyre also gave his thoughts about if it is primarily him driving his character development in WWE.

“I have a big voice in it but it’s the creative team, it’s Hunter himself, it’s all of us working together.”

Isla Dawn Comments on Her Not Being Surprised At All By Her WWE Release

As noted before, Isla Dawn was released from WWE this past February as part of a larger batch of talent releases.

Fightful held a recent interview with Dawn. One of the topics discussed included Dawn’s thoughts about how she was not surprised at all by her release from WWE when it happened.

“I wasn’t surprised at all. I had been at Smackdown the night before and we’d got word of a few people being released, and I remember texting my mate and being like, ‘oh, I think I’m in this one’, and they were like, ‘no, don’t be stupid. You’re always thinking you’re getting fired. You’re always negative,’ and I was like, ‘no, no.’ I was like, ‘I feel this one.’ It’s not even from anything anyone said or anything. I could just feel it. But that’s the thing. Like, at some point, everyone, well, most people are going to be released. So it’s not really- it’s not a if, it’s a when for a majority of people. So I knew at some point it was going to end and then towards the last, like, little bit, I was like ‘oh I can feel it, I can feel it coming,’ so it wasn’t like it was sad and it was whatever, but it wasn’t like.. I feel like out the dark shock.”

WWE News & Notes

This past Saturday’s WWE NXT house show event in Tampa, Florida featured Ridge Holland debuting a new character and new ring gear. Holland came out to the ring sporting a new vest that featured ‘The Steam Pig’ as a new moniker for him for his match against Tate Wilder, which was won by Holland.

WWE recently released three new videos for their on-going Top 25 SummerSlam matches of all-time countdown. The #12 spot was the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Last Man Standing match of Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns (c) from SummerSlam 2022. The #11 spot was the WWE Championship match of Daniel Bryan vs. John Cena (c) from SummerSlam 2013. The #10 spot was the Hell in a Cell match of The Undertaker vs. Edge from SummerSlam 2008.

Monday’s WWE RAW show in Houston, Texas featured current TNA World Champion and NXT talent Trick Williams making an appearance during a Netflix exclusive commercial break segment. During the segment, NXT commentator Vic Joseph interviewed Williams for his thoughts about WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker being set to confront him on Tuesday’s WWE NXT show. Williams stated “The truth is, I ain’t got no problem with The Undertaker. The Undertaker has a problem with me. It was his LFG sitting in the way after I had a match. So I stood on business and told him to move. Undertaker, since you want to talk, let’s talk. You out here popping off like your knees ain’t got no expiration date. I’m glad you like to roll your eyes to the back of your head because I might just knock your ass out. You can keep tweeting if you want to. Tomorrow might be your last ride.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent TikTok video, Roman Reigns denied the online rumors of him and his wife welcomed their sixth child for the reason for his recent abscense from WWE. Reigns stated “Five and done. They’re trying to say I’m trying to catch up to Jacob (Fatu). Five and done. I’ve done my job. I’ve procreated. When’s it going to be about me. Damn kids. Can’t go no where. ‘Last vacation.’ It wasn’t no vacation. School until June and then we started tutoring. Don’t feel bad for me. Don’t ever feel bad for me.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent new vlog released by WWE, Roman Reigns gave his thoughts about his recent return to WWE and his unsettled issues with Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman. Reigns stated “Well, before he betrayed me, I learned many wise things from the wise man, but that’s not who he is anymore. One of the first things, and it was a constant, he would always come back to it, and you can go back… We operate on the Tribal Chief’s time. We got a lot of serious problems going on. I mean, the man that Paul Heyman, my former wise man, chose to ride with.. doesn’t look good, man. I don’t really want to speak on that because I believe in that karma, so I want to see how that plays out. Obviously, we have not been on good terms for a long time. I don’t wish injury on anybody, cause I’d rather him just be here so I can whoop his ass myself. I prefer a healthy little bitch so I can smack him up. But we’ll see, we’ll see what happens. We’ll see what the landscape is. I’m always looking for the keys to the kingdom. I’m owed an army the way I look at it, so I’m still the tribal chief. I’m still fit to lead. Believe that.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with the Boston Herald, WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg gave his thoughts about his praise of Gunther for his retirement match opponent at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event show earlier this month in his hometown of Atlanta. Goldberg stated “Wrestling Gunther was an honor and a privilege. Don’t let my displeasure in any way, shape, or form reflect upon my opponent. I wish I could do it again. That’s how much fun it was.” Goldberg also gave his thoughts about how he apologized to Gunther backstage over him laughing when Gunther chopped him during their match. Goldberg stated “I always say that I never bask in the moment – but that’s exactly what happened when I laughed after Gunther chopped me. It wasn’t because I wanted to step on his offense – it’s just that I was having fun. It was just a reactionary thing. I normally don’t have that much fun. I’m greatly appreciative that so many people were happy with what they saw. It was a long road leading up to it and a lot of sacrifices were made. In some ways it was a success, in other ways it was a failure.

In a recent interview with Arash Markazi at last week’s 2025 ESPYS Awards event in Los Angeles, California, Charlotte Flair gave her thoughts about the very positive response she received from fans at WWE’s Evolution 2 event earlier this month. Flair stated “I was blown away. Literally, when they started chanting, ‘we want Charlotte, ’ I did a [looks around]…’y’all chanting for me?’ I was like, ‘Don’t tear up on the apron, you have to run a comeback.’ They made my night, they made my year. They made me feel heard and seen. It’s just been a hard year and my comeback didn’t come back the way I thought it would. Especially, all I thought about the whole time I was gone, was returning. So to hear that ovation and feel the passion for me, meant everything to me. I just think people forget the Queen is human, and the Queen has good days, bad days, and under all that armor, glitter, shine, and sparkle, there’s still this little girl that can’t believe she made it. That still works hard, that still wants to achieve goals and dreams. It was just…I felt special. They really made me feel special that night as a performer.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with The Casual Conversations with The Classic podcast, Ron “R-Truth” Killings gave his thoughts about his match against John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the May 24th WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event show. Killings stated “It’s the universe. It’s the universe having it’s way, man. It is professional wrestling at it’s greatest. Being written by the universe, man, and we all witnessing it. Bro, that Saturday Night’s Main Event, just to be involved with the GOAT, my childhood hero, man, bro, it’s one of those things you only hear about or read about, but I got the chance to experience it, live it. Man, dog, so it’s like, it’s one of those things you, you accept. Can’t see yourself in that place of doing, but you did it and it’s one of them checkoff list dog, like accomplishments. I pat myself on the back. A lot of times you gotta be your own cheerleader. So I pat myself on the back with that one.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
