WWE Raw begins with highlights of last week’s Number 1 contender Gauntlet match and the return of Roman Reigns.

Pre-show Arrivals

We get an aerial shot of Metlife Stadium, the venue for WWE SummerSlam. After that is a shot of the Toyota Center.

We see Sami Zayn walking backstage and the camera cuts to the Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Becky Lynch. A camera cuts to a black SUV and it’s The Judgment Day arriving to the arena. Dominik Mysterio gives the keys to the valet but it’s AJ Styles. Dominik says this is harassment and he walks away as AJ tells him that he hopes he gets cleared.

In-Ring: CM Punk, Gunther

Live in the arena, CM Punk’s music hits and out he comes to a loud pop from the crowd! He gets in the ring, looks at the crowd and grabs a microphone. A loud “CM Punk” chant from the crowd erupts as he holds the microphone in the air. He says “It is great to be alive on a Monday night in Houston, Texas or what”. Punk says when he came back, he had a few goals. One was main event WrestleMania and the other was to be a World Champion. One of those happened and he can now focus on the goal of being World Champion.

Punk says last week he won a gauntlet match and that made him the number one contender to Gunther’s World Championship. He says Gunther is one of the best wrestlers in the world, he is looking very forward to lacing them up and facing him. He says he cannot promise a win but with everyone cheering him, he can promise that he will leave it all in the ring. He will not quit, he will give everything he has. He looks at Gunther and he says one of the best in the world. Intercontinental Champion for 666 days and in his second run as World champion.

He says he has two weeks to train for Gunther but he has been training for this his entire life, he is CM Punk. To Gunther and his fans, Punk is not just any other wrestler, not just any other challenger, he is the best in the world.

As he is talking, Gunther’s music hits and out he comes. Gunther gets in the ring and stares at Punk as he grabs a microphone. Both men are face to face in the ring and the title is around Gunther’s waist. Gunther takes a step back and the fans chant “CM Punk”. As Gunther is about to speak, the fans boo and chant “You tapped out”. Gunther begins to speak and the fans boo. He says he is very excited to hear… But the fans keep booing Gunther. Another “You tapped out” chant. Gunther says to cut to the chase, he did not come out to throw insults at him, to create any drama. But he wanted to point out some similarity. They are there for the same reason, not to make friends but to make money and win Championships. They both consider themselves as the best in the world. He says Punk has a massive ego and the fans kept chanting his name. He doesn’t blame Punk for that. He says he has an ego too but his is justified.

He says his ego is not based on what the fans think, that is worthless. His ego is based on results. And Punk just listed his accolades. The best in the world is the man who holds the World Heavyweight Championship. Punk nods and Gunther says at SummerSlam, that bell will ring. And when it does, he will make Punk regret that he got into a ring. He will maul him, choke him out and drop him. Punk will wake up, looking at the lights and he will realize that Gunther was right. He will never be World Champion, he will never be the best in the world. Gunther says at least he has the degenerate fans chanting for him for the rest of his life.

But for Roman to know that Seth Rollins will be out of action for a long, long time. And that opens up leadership void for them and that means they can fix this. Heyman tells Roman that he knows, deep in his heart that they are far better together than opposing each other. Heyman tells him that he will always be his family because “I love you my Tribal Chief”. The fans chant “You sold out”. Heyman hands Roman the microphone and Roman grabs him.

Roman tells him to put it on pause, there is one thing he forgot to do. “H Town!” And the fans cheer and chant “OTC”. Roman tells them “Acknowledge me!”

Bron gets angry but Bronson and Heyman calm him down.

Roman tells him to calm down and to sit under the learning tree and write this down. Because Heyman will do to them what Heyman did to them. Heyman will try to take all the credit. He heard a lot of people try and take responsibility for creating the Tribal Chief but he can tell them that it wasn’t Heyman. The only reason Roman is the Tribal Chief is because the fans still acknowledge him. The fans chant “OTC”. Roman says the OTC Was a Champion too, the greatest Champion to step foot in the ring. And Heyman had a part in that but he did not have any part in his keeping that title. He says The Usos did, Solo did, Sami even helped out. But he lost that title, it only took four years but he did. And after that, Heyman told everyone that Roman went off but Roman went home to continue to raise the future Bloodline.

Reigns says Heyman thought they were just another fat check or another wrestling group. He says you can create those but you can’t create the Bloodline, that was God’s word. Bron takes a step forward but both Heyman and Bronson stop him.

Roman says what really bothers him is that Heyman used to be a friend to his family, a business partner. Roman made him a part of their family, he was chosen family, he gave him responsibility. And Heyman threw it all away. He threw it away for a best friend, someone that he had not talked to in over a decade. He tells Heyman not to ever come out and say he ruined the Bloodline. Heyman, this dumbass did.

Bron steps forward and asks for a microphone. Bron tells Roman that they don’t want him there anymore. Roman is yesterday’s news, he is the old dog, he was relevant five years ago. That was Roman’s prime, he’s just taking up a spot, standing in his ring. And he is glad that Roman did not take Heyman’s offer. And he knows Heyman won’t stab him in the back because he holds value while Roman is worthless. Bron says he is the big dog now, he is the top dog, he is the future of WWE, he is the man now. Bron tells Roman to do what he does best, to turn around and leave.

Roman takes a step back and the fans chant “OTC”. Roman says he has to be completely honest, he did not hear any of that trash that Bron just said. He doesn’t think his mic was working and if he wants to say it again, to use his mic. Roman throws his microphone to Bron and Roman hits him with a Superman punch. Roman with right hands onto Bronson, Roman turns around and Bron hits him with a spear. The fans chant “YEET” and Bronson is about to go for a Tsunami onto Roman but Jey Uso’s music hits!

Jey runs down to the ring and he lands a super kick onto both men. Jey with right hands onto Bron and Bron goes down. Jey with a spear onto Bron and Roman with a spear onto Bronson!

Jey’s music hits as he and Roman stand tall with Heyman, Bron and Bronson out of the ring and Raw goes off the air.
