Ian Riccaboni Reportedly Receiving A Lot of Praise within AEW
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that AEW and Ring of Honor announcer has been recieving a great amount of praise behind the scenes for his announcing work in both AEW and ROH.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that Riccaboni’s performance stood out following the recent double tapings and again after this past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show. It was reported that many within AEW currently expect Riccaboni to be featured more often during AEW’s residency stay in Philadelphia.
Riccaboni has recently been filling in for Tony Schiavone during double double tapings as a way to give Schiavone a breather from calling over four hours of programming.
It was reported that those spoken to also stated that Riccaboni is “beloved” backstage” and several wrestlers have voiced that they would like to see him in a more permanent role in AEW. It was also reported that while AEW officials are satisfied with its current commentary team for AEW shows, the company values Riccaboni’s contributions and respects that he enjoys his day job and prioritizes time with his family.
Jack Perry AEW Absence & Potential Return Plans
Jack Perry has been absent from AEW since this past November’s Full Gear 2024 event. Perry last appeared and wrestled at this past January’s NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty event in Japan. A recent episode of the Being The Elite show teased Perry making a return to AEW.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported in a recent Q&A article that his sources did not deny the recent rumors of Perry being the mystery doctor shown in Killswitch’s (Luchasaurus) return video.
Sapp reported that one source close to Perry spoken on July 27th stated that the “wheels would be moving on him returning within a month or so.” Sapp reported that this timetable would match up with Perry being the mystery person in Killswitch’s video.
Sapp also reported that when he directly asked an AEW source about Perry’s involvement, the response he got back was silence. Sapp also reported that most people within the wrestling industry just avoid answering things instead of lying.
