Injuries Updates for Will Ospreay, Nick Wayne, Konosuke Takeshita, & Swerve Strickland

Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that their sources provided updates on the injuries statuses of several AEW talents.

In regards to Will Ospreay’s neck injury, Meltzer and Alvarez reported that they have yet to confirm any details about any potential surgery for Ospreay’s neck injury but Meltzer compared the injury to the one Kurt Angle had during his WWE career. Meltzer and Alvarez reportedly also stated that they were unclear on how Ospreay got medically cleared for this Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025 event.

In regards to Nick Wayne’s announcement of him suffering a broken foot injury on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show, Alvarez reported that those spoken to confirmed that Wayne’s injury is legitimate. Alvarez reported that it is currently not known how Wayne had suffered the injury nor the severity of it nor a potential timetable for his return. Meltzer speculated that without surgery, Wayne could be out of action for up to ten weeks.

In regards to Konosuke Takeshita suffereing a potential concussion injury at this Saturday’s NJPW G1 Climax 2025 event, Alvarez reported that those spoken to stated that Takeshita got “knocked batty” and while he was able to finish his Semifinal Round match against Zack Sabre Jr., he was unable to remember anything about the match itself nor the post-match promo he gave. Alravez also reported that those spoken to stated that Takeshita was feeling okay and was able to wrestle the next night in the Finals against EVIL and then flew to Glasgow, Scotland for AEW’s Collision tapings.

In regards to Swerve Strickland’s knee issues being brought up during his current storyline feud with Kazuchika Okada, Meltzer reported that those spoken to stated that Strickland’s knee injury is legitimate.

Fightful Select reported that their sources also confirmed Strickland is currently dealing with a knee injury and provided additional details. Those spoken to reportedly stated that Strickland is working through a torn meniscus that he first suffered in 2019 during his time in WWE and was then back on television after taking a month off at the time. It was reported that it is currently not known if Strickland will be undergoing surgery to repair his injury nor the course of action for him going forward after this Sunday’s Forbidden Door 2025 event. It was also reported that the Jacksonville Jaguars have been playing a role in helping Strickland through his injury via their medical staff.
