Friday’s CMLL Super Viernes event at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico featured MJF defeating Averno to become the new CMLL Light Heavyweight Champion.
Following the match, Zandokan Jr. came out to the ring and confronted MJF setting up a future match between the two for the title.

This was MJF’s first ever CMLL Light Heavyweight Championship victory and his first ever CMLL championship victory in his AEW/CMLL wrestling career.
