Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources confirmed that Pete Dunne was the person under the mask portraying the second El Grande Americano at this past Monday’s WWE RAW show in Detroit, Michigan.

Dave Meltzer also reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that WWE officials current plans are for more WWE talents to make appearances in Lucha Libre AAA following AAA’s recent Alianzas tapings on July 25th. Melzter reported that WWE officials also currently have plans for El Grande Americano to be a major player and not as a comedic character in AAA.

WWE reportedly is currently not expected to go after CMLL talent nor start a bidding war for them following their acquisition deal for AAA becoming official, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer reported that WWE’s current plans is to keep costs down and focus on talented indies guys for new signings and not get into a war with CMLL for the time being. Meltzer also reported that WWE officials also are planning to cut back on the usage of older AAA veterans for shows and also not wanting to bring back stables from the past and stars from the past as well. WWE reportedly wants a more dynamic appeal for AAA with younger talent and to present a style where talent can work the American style but keep the AAA style different and unique. Meltzer reported that the idea is to break AAA into the U.S. and call it Lucha Libre but have it more Americanized while being distinctly different from WWE’s main roster and NXT.
