Bret Hart Comments on Not Feeling Appreciated By WWE Following SummerSlam 2025 Invitation Incident
Slam Wrestling held a recent interview with WWE Hall of Famer Bret “The Hitman” Hart. One of the topics discussed included Hart’s thoughts about him currently not feeling appreciated by WWE following an incident over him being invited to attend SummerSlam 2025 only to be rejected when he arrived there due to claims of lack of seats.
“This year, WWE told me that they wanted me to be in the crowd (at SummerSlam). Then they told me once I got there that they didn’t have any seats for me,” the three-time WWE Hall of Famer explained to a crowd of around 200 Hitman fans. “But I noticed Kevin Nash got a seat. Maybe I finally realized that I don’t think they really fully appreciate me, even after Hulk’s passing, that there’s just no certain appreciation for anything I did…But I do think that I speak for a different time and a different place in the wrestling world. I know.. the young wrestlers today like Punk, and FTR, and (others in) AEW…they’re true fans of mine, and they emulate me or try to do little things that I did in my matches and mimic it, just as sort of a salute or a nod, to say ‘this is for you’ or whatever. And I appreciate that. But I don’t think the WWF, the company, I don’t think they give a shit about anything. And I don’t think they care about the past.”

In a recent interview with the Portland Press Herald, WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas gave his thoughts about him not being invited to WWE’s tributes to the late Hulk Hogan. Atlas stated “I’m kind of glad that they didn’t invite me because then I would only have been there for the money, not for him.“
In a recent interview with Jaguar Yokota, Sareee, former Sarray in NXT, gave her thoughts about her issues during her time in WWE’s NXT brand when it transitioned into the 2.0 era. Sareee stated “When I went to WWE in America, I didn’t want to be a villain so much as a strong wrestler. In a recent Boston Fan Expo event, John Cena gave his thoughts about who are his biggest wrestling soulmates. Cena stated “I have a few wrestling soulmates,” said Cena. “Those are Randy Orton, Edge, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and AJ Styles. But gosh, I can’t take any shine away from Cody Rhodes – add him, too.“
In a recent interview with the What Do You Wanna Talk About? with Cody Rhodes podcast, musician Jelly Roll gave his thoughts about him getting to work with Randy Orton in WWE. Jelly Roll stated “I think I’m starting to tell a story in the ring, but more so, and I’m proud of this, I’m starting to tell the story outside of it, which is probably the value I thought I brought to this the most, if I brought any value at all. When Bad Bunny did it, he immediately brought a new set of eyeballs onto it. I remember calling Randy super early when we were deciding to do this and being like, ‘Will you do mainstream media with me? I think you deserve it. Wrestling doesn’t get enough of it. It breaks my heart that you haven’t been on a late-night show in 21 years. I’m going to host this Kimmel gig, let’s do something.’ Immediately. That’s what I’m the most proud of so far. I’ve been able to be one of the first guys in a long time to take a wrestling storyline outside of WWE presence or as far mainstream media as you can do. Not just a conversation, we got to do the full thing. We got to really bring a segment to late night television. I’m proud of that.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
In a recent interview with the SI Media with Jimmy Traina podcast, Cody Rhodes gave his thoughts about the rumors of him turning heel at SummerSlam 2025 and if there was any pitch for a heel turn for him. Rhodes stated “I play for the team. If the coach tells me, ‘This is what we’re doing,’ I might have a question or two about it. I can weigh an objection or a comment, but that’s the whole quarterback element. I’m going to run the play. When discussions like that….you have the writer’s room, Ed Kosky is there, Triple H, the Final Boss [The Rock] is always present in a way, and Nick Khan. That would be a big discussion that we would all have. Heading into any event, not just SummerSlam, any event, Triple H, as a leader, likes to lay out every single potential road we could go down. You might find something on the road, maybe you don’t go down it, but you think of when you do. He’s very good about polling the room. ‘If we did that, what would that look like? Where would it go? Is it just for shock?’ I just did an interview with Unreal, and I kept hearing the phrase ‘double turn.’ Double turn is a little more complicated than people think. It shouldn’t be. I have a bounty out if one person can actually tell me what that means. They’re going to say the thing that sounds the most simple, and that’s not what a double turn is. I’m not going to get into it. Fans are always right. I’ve learned my lesson. Whenever you try to mansplain something, you end up just coming off like a dick. The fans are very much in control of what we do. If (me turning) was discussed, it didn’t go far. I don’t think it got to me, by any means, because I would have some ideas on how I would execute it and what would happen. If you’re Triple H and looking at three years of record business and you’re looking at your team. Rhea Ripley, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, Jacob Fatu, if you move a piece in a big way, does it affect the rest of the team? Do we keep record business? That’s a discussion where, with this company and the way it’s done today, it’s a team effort. Hunter is going to make the call, but he’s got a good war room of people to weigh it all out.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
