This past Tuesday’s WWE Wrestlepalooza event in Indianapolis, Indiana featured Brock Lesnar defeating John Cena in a mostly extended squash style match. This quickly lead to online speculation of a rematch between the two potentially being for Cena’s retirement match.
Bryan Alvarez reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Live that his sources stated that WWE officials currently do not have any plans for Cena and Lesnar to wrestle again for Cena’s retirement tour.
“As of this weekend, I am told that this is it. There isn’t going to be another Brock Lesnar, John Cena match. That was their last match and Brock is not his final opponent. So, I don’t know what to say now.”
Alvarez speculated that the reason for the mostly squash match victory for Lesnar could be due to WWE officials wanting Lesnar to have a future World Championship shot.
