Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania featured the Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher & Josh Alexander) & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) defeating Hangman Adam Page, Kenny Omega, & JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & “Speedball” Mike Bailey) in an All Star 8-Man Tag Team match in the main event of the show. This match was notable for a post-match attack by the Don Callis Family laying out both Page and Omega with Omega being sent through a table on the outside from a brainbuster by Fletcher off the apron. Omega was then take out on a stretcher as the show closed.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated AEW officials writing out Omega with an injury angle was something that had been the plan for him for “quite a while.” Those spoken to reportedly stated that the main reason why AEW booked the injury angle was due to Omega being planned to take some time off that include him taking a trip to Japan.
It was reported that Omega is currently not planned to be on the card for AEW’s All Out 2025 event on September 20th in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
It was also reported that Omega’s break from AEW is not anything injury-related due to any pain Omega experiences now is to be expected due to his health situation from after his bout with diverticulitis.
