Seth Rollins Comments on He Didn’t Feel Guilty With Fake Knee Injury Ruse & John Cena Being Proud of The Outcome
A recent episode of the SI Media with Jimmy Traina podcast featured Seth Rollins as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Rollins thoughts about how many people were in on his “Ruse of the Century” fake knee injury for his surprise cash-in at this past August’s SummerSlam 2025 event.
“You can probably count on two hands.”
Rollins also gave his thoughts about who was the person who came up with the idea for his fake knee injury.
“I’m not exactly sure where it was hatched. It was presented to me in advance, quite some time, which in our business is a few weeks. I thought the idea was brilliant when I first heard it. Obviously, the execution was going to be important, and the details were going to need to be ironed out. I felt the crux of the idea was brilliant. I was the guy to be able to pull that off. I was very excited at the prospect of it. My level of commitment to our industry is second to none. I was the guy for the job.”
Rollins also gave his thoughts about if his fake knee injury ruse was difficult to pull off.
“I’m a professional, so I feel like I can do anything. All you need in our industry is a little shred of doubt, just a tiny bit of mystery and you get the magic. I thought as soon as Saturday Night’s Main Event went off the air, you saw everybody asking questions, ‘Oh, we’re in. It’s over.’ I don’t think it was too difficult. I think people are maybe smarter than they are sometimes.”
Rollins also gave his thoughts about if he felt any guilt during or after the “injury” over him fooling his closest friends and co-workers.
“I didn’t feel guilty. I let my wife [Becky Lynch] take all the guilt. She has the Irish guilt anyway. She steps on an ant and feels like she’s going to hell. If someone did this to me, I wouldn’t feel bad in the slightest. I would totally get it. Even my closest friends. Maybe John Cena. John reached out and I had to do my best to wiggle around it. John and I are cut from the same cloth, so when John saw the final outcome, he was very happy and proud.”

Update on WWE’s Plans to Add Another Match to Card of Wrestlepalooza
As noted before, WWE is currently expected to announce a sixth match for the card of Wrestlepalooza on September 20th in Indianapolis, Indiana. This new match is expected to be a Triple Threat match featuring Nia Jax, Jade Cargill, and Tiffany Stratton.

It was reported that this new match is dependent on if Stratton can be medically cleared from her undisclosed injury in time for the show.
Stratton had been pulled from her scheduled match at this past Tuesday’s WWE NXT Homecoming show due to not being medically cleared from an injury she had suffered during her WWE Women’s title match against Cargill and post-match attack by Jax at last week’s SmackDown show.

In a recent interview with the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels gave his thoughts about why he still considers his match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26 to be his retirement match and his tag team match at Crown Jewel 2018 to just be a special “one-off” and him not coming out of retirement. Michaels stated “It’s that one with Undertaker [at WrestleMania 26]. Because the other one, it was a tag match, it was DX, and I feel kind of bad, because I don’t mean it in a negative way, but that was just sort of like, I don’t know. It was like Kiss going out, and not even with the original members or whatever, and playing a concert at The Troubadour or something. It was like, Oh, but they’re not really retired, and I know Kiss never retired, just felt like a special, separate one-off. HBK and Mr. Wrestlemania, The Showstopper, whatever, that ended with Taker at WrestleMania, because I still came back and refereed the match between Hunter and Taker and again, and will always play a role in the WWE. Would it count if I went into the Rumble this year or something? Don’t get me wrong.” Michaels also gave his thoughts about if he will be in next year’s Men’s Royal Rumbe match in Saudi Arabia. Michaels stated “Oh, heavens no! Probably shouldn’t have said that. I was just using that as an example. But no, I don’t consider those a match. A single performance by me, by HBK, by that guy. That’s not who that was. That was a dude hanging out with his buddies and having a match. So one was the artist, the other one is was a dude, like I said, hanging out with his buddies.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
