Turki Al-Sheikh, Saudi General Entertainment Authority Chairman, posted a video on Snapchat earlier today appearing to announce that WrestleMania 43 in 2027 will be taking place in Saudi Arabia. A press release in Arabic was also sent out announcing WWE’s WrestleMania 43 coming to the country before it was pulled down.
In a now deleted post on Twitter, Al-Sheikh stated “We are announcing that for the first time, WrestleMania will take place outside America. WrestleMania will be coming to Saudi Arabia in 2027.”
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources confirmed that it was 100% legitimate and an official announcement is coming very soon.
The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported that his sources also confirmed that WrestleMania 43 will be taking place in Saudi Arabia. Those spoken to reportedly stated that the country will also be getting the entire weekend of WWE shows including SmackDown and RAW. WWE’s deal with the Saudis for WrestleMania 43 is currently believed to be for around $100 million.
Fightful Select reported that their sources also confirmed that WrestleMania 43 is expected to take place in Saudi Arabia and provided additional details.
One WWE higher-up spoken to reportedly stated that “where there’s smoke, there is fire” when asked about it.
It was reported that that pulled press release was originally sent out in Arabia and caused confusion among English-speaking media outlets that had never received it.
It was also reported that the current belief within WWE is there are still plans to hold three events in Saudi Arabia next year, which includes the Royal Rumble. It was also reported that it remains unclear how WrestleMania may affect those plans now.
One source spoken to reportedly stated that an official announcement is currently scheduled for later this week and potentially could be on Friday in Las Vegas, Nevada, due to that would align up with TKO promoting the Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez boxing match event that is backed by Riyadh Season.
This will be the first ever WrestleMania event in WrestleMania history to take place in a location outside of North America
