As noted before, Allie Katch had been out of action for Game Changer Wrestling and the indies since this past January due to a broken leg injury and surgery. Katch made her surprise return from injury earlier this month for House of Glory.
A recent episode of the Busted Open Radio After Dark podcast featured Katch as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Katch’s thoughts about her broken leg injury and recovery from it.
“I’ve obviously talked to everybody in person but, dude, it was honestly such a freak accident… I was so excited. It’s Hammerstein, it’s this huge opportunity, it’s this huge match. Thank God I had the entrance. At least I had the entrance, because that was all I had. But, yeah, it was wild. I literally looked down at my leg, and I go, it is not supposed to face that way. My foot is not supposed to look like that, and I just remember thinking that, and then twisting it, and really, I didn’t feel it. I didn’t feel a thing. I think so much adrenaline was going through my body, but I knew something was wrong. You know, I commend people who tweak their knee or tweak their ankle and they’re like, ‘No, I’m gonna finish the match.’ I knew — it was like, absolutely not. I know something’s wrong. Get me out of here. I’m a big baby. Get me out, and thank God I did that because, yeah, it was the tib and the fib, both broken clean off, in almost the same spot. That’s why it was twisted the wrong way, and that was it.”
Katch also gave her thoughts about how her doctors had her walking around not too long after her surgery.
“I haven’t even got my bearings yet and immediately, a swarm of doctors come in and they go, ‘Alright, so we’re gonna have you walk now.’ ‘I’m sorry, what? Excuse me?’ And they made me get out of bed and start teaching me how to walk right then. It’s literally Monday, like morning, afternoon… I spent Monday in the hospital, and then Tuesday morning, they woke me up again to teach me how to walk up and down stairs, and then they’re like, ‘Okay, you’re good to go’ and I left Tuesday afternoon to go back home.”
Katch also gave her thoughts about how everything about her recovery had panned out perfectly for her and she rehabbed with former WCW wrestler Crowbar at his rehab facility near where she lives.
“And so I started rehab on Valentine’s Day, with Crowbar. It all just happened perfectly because thank God it happened at Hammerstein… I live like 20, 30 minutes away, with no traffic, and then Crowbar has a rehab facility in New Jersey, 30 minutes away from where I live. If it had to happen, thankfully, it all came together and happened like this.”
