As noted before, the Missouri State Athletic Commission’s strict rules for “no rules” matches was expected to negatively affect several of the matches at this past Saturday’s AEW WrestleDream 2025 event in St. Louis, Missouri.
In regards to the I Quit match between Darby Allin and Jon Moxley, Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources stated that AEW officials original plans for that match was much different than what took place. Meltzer reported that the MSAC would not allow blading or brawling in the crowd to take place during matches on AEW’s show. Despite the restrictions, AEW was allowed to use broken glass in the ring and Moxley being able to use skewers as a weapon.
In regards to the no blading rule, Meltzer reported that Allin had used a blood capsule for his bleeding mouth spot during the match but the fake blood dried up pretty quickly.
Meltzer reported that AEW had several ideas and things that were nixed from the match due to the MASC’s strict rules but this didn’t prevent Claudio Castagnoli from being able to do his running overhead press toss to Allin from inside the ring onto the announcer’s table.
