Backstage Update on Seth Rollins’ Shoulder Injury Situation & Original Plans for Rollins and The Vision

As noted before, Monday’s WWE RAW show in Perth, Western Australia, Australia featured The Vision’s Bron Breakker and “Big” Bronson Reed turning on Seth Rollins and attacking him out to close out the show. The reason for this angle is currently rumored to be due to Rollins dealing with a shoulder injury from this past Saturday’s Crown Jewel Perth show.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported in Monday’s Daily Update that his sources stated that his sources have yet to confirm if Rollins is currently dealing with a shoulder injury.

Meltzer reported that it is currently not known if Rollins’ injury situation caused WWE officials to change their booking plans or if the plans were changed due to the decision to do a hot shot angle over concerns that the early start time for Monday’s show likely would have resulted in RAW doing the lowest rating in the show’s history. Meltzer speculated that WWE officials wanted something to make sure people would tune in to avoid that potential problem. Meltzer reported that RAW’s recent ratings woes were very much a topic of discussion backstage.

In regards to WWE’s original plans for The Vision, Meltzer reported that one source with knowledge of creative stated that The Vision were originally planned to be together as a group through WrestleMania 42. Meltzer reported that these original plans included Austin Theory joining the group at some point.

Meltzer reported that some within WWE are currently skeptical of Rollins’ shoulder injury being genuine due to what happened the last time they were told he was legitimately injury only for them to find out later it was just a work. Meltzer also reported that due to WWE officials attempts to work everyone in recent months, the lack of trust within in the company is currently pretty high.

In a follow-up report, Meltzer reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that his sources stated that WWE officials original plans for Rollins for WrestleMania 42 was for him to tentatively face off against Roman Reigns in a match.

In regards to Rollins’ current injury situation, Bryan Alvarez reported that the reason why Rollins wore his coat throughout all of this past Monday’s RAW show was in order to hide the brace on his arm. Both Alvarez and Meltzer reported that they currently believe that Rollins’ injury situation is legitimate as of today.

In regards to The Vision kicking out Rollins, Melzter reported that WWE officials did have plans for Rollins to eventually get kicked out of the group due to the main goal was not to make the group about Rollins but it was about making Bron Breakker into the next Roman Reigns star for the company. Meltzer reported that it is currently not known when this angle would have originally happened prior to the plans being changed after Rollins’ shoulder injury situation.

Meltzer reported that Rollins’ injury also has affected WWE’s original plans for their Saturday Night’s Main Event show on November 1st and this year’s Survivor Series WarGames event. Meltzer reported that Rollins and CM Punk had been planned to wrestle for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event show.
