Carlos Silva Comments on “TNA Wrestling Has No Plans To Slow Down, We Can Develop Stars”

Undisputed’s Justin Barrasso held a recent interview with TNA President Carlos Silva. One of the topics discussed included Silva’s thoughts about TNA Wrestling’s current working partnership with WWE and a key component being to deliver what the fans want.

“It’s very important that we do everything we can for our fans. WWE is at the top of the space and sport, but we have our own place in wrestling. We have a lot of goals to accomplish, especially with the best fan experience.”

Silva also gave his praise of the current team behind-the-scenes in TNA and the company currently having a lot of goals including being able to develop new stars.

“We have some great minds in the company, like Eric Tompkins, Tommy Dreamer, and Ross Forman. We brought in sports executives for production and marketing, too. We’re bringing best practices from sports and applying them to our live events. It’s a team that is pulling all together, and that makes a big difference. It’s been a great nine months, but we’re not going to slow down.

We have a lot of goals. We can develop young stars. Joe Hendry is a great example. I know he wrestled elsewhere, but TNA provided a platform for him to reach new levels–then you saw him at WrestleMania. TNA is a place for young stars like Leon Slater. It’s a place for legends like The Hardys and stars like Eric Young, Nic Nemeth, Matt Cardona, and Frankie Kazarian–and I could go on and on.”

La Catalina Missed October 5th CMLL Event Due to Health Issues

La Catalina recently announced on Twitter that she was unable to compete for CMLL at Sunday’s Domingo Familiar event at the Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico due to health-related issues.

Prior to the announcement, La Catalina had been originally scheduled to team up with India Sioux in a tag team match against Persephone and Zeuxis.

The Smashing Machine Box Office Opening Weekend Draws Lowest of The Rock’s Acting Career

Variety reported that The Smashing Machine biopic drew around $6 million for its domestic box office opening weekend. This film stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and him portraying the role of MMA legend Mark Kerr.

It was reported that this broke the previous all-time opening weekend lowest record of $8.5 million for 2010 thriller Faster in Johnson’s acting career.

It was also reported that The Smashing Machine had been projected to generate around $8 million to $15 million for his opening weekend. This film reportedly had cost around $50 million to produce and many additional millions on promotional efforts for entertainment company A24.

In regards to the top box office films of the past weekend, it was reported that The Smashing Machine finished third behind Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, which generated over $33 million, and One Battle After Another, which generated $11 million.
