“I mean, at the end of the day, I’m here, if John Cena wants some he can come get some. He’s got four dates left you said? I mean if that old geezer wants me to put a final nail in his coffin, I’ll be more than happy to. That’s what I’m here for. I’m here to be and stay your Dirty double champ.”

Samoa Joe Comments on Coquina Clutch Tribute Spot During Cena vs. AJ Styles Match at Crown Jewel Perth

This past Saturday’s WWE Crown Jewel: Perth event in Perth, Western Australia, Australia featured John Cena defeating AJ Styles in a singles match. This match was notable for featuring Cena and Styles performing several tribute spots to other wrestlers they have faced off during their careers. One of the tribute spots included Styles putting Cena in a Coquina Clutch, which is Samoa Joe’s finisher move.

CBS Sports held a recent interview with former WWE and current AEW talent Samoa Joe. One of the topics discussed included Joe’s thoughts about Cena and Styles paying tribute to him during their match.

“It’s incredibly cool. Both those men are people I have unyielding respect for. I’m so happy to see they’ve enjoyed the successes they have had in their life. It was wonderful to be thought of in their big moment.

AJ is one of the few wrestlers who changed the face of wrestling. He’s definitely the prototype of an ideal wrestler and expanded that category. Much like John, both had fantastic careers. I know for many fans it’s sad to see them go, and I can obviously see why. They’ve been such a big part of the industry for so long.

They really have careers they can kick back their feet and look at with tremendous pride and satisfaction. I’m always happy to see people enter that phase of their life in a healthy manner with great future prospects of other things on the horizon.”

Alexa Bliss Comments on She Pitched Current Tag Team Run With Charlotte Flair

A recent episode of In The Kliq podcast featured Alexa Bliss as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Bliss’ thoughts about her current on-screen partnership with Charlotte Flair and how she was the one who pitched the idea of them working together as a tag team in WWE.

“It’s been so fun working with Charlotte. This was something that came about very kind of randomly, we were talking to creative, and I kind of like threw it out there. I was like, well, what about- they gave me like a list of names of people who were kind of like in this little bubble of needing storyline, and I was like, ‘well, what about Charlotte?’ We have this long past. They said Charlotte’s name and I was like, yeah, we have a long past I think it would be a fun dynamic to see what do these two people who don’t normally interact get along with other people or have success with other people look like getting stuck together and that’s been super fun. We’ve been having fun with it, at our entrances that are little pushing, pulling all the stuff that’s just us improv-ing and just having fun with it. It’s been a lot of fun. I was right. We would be successful because now we’re tag team champions and it’s been great. We get to see a different side of me, a different side of Charlotte, which, I think is so fun and (to) see her kind of open up and have fun as a character. Because we saw before just a character that was mainly going for a singles title and then my character was never really one after joining Bray, was never really focused on any titles. So it’s fun to see the mesh of the two come together as this kind of odd couple and, you know, allies of convenience. It’s been a lot of fun and I think that’s what kind of resonates with the audiences that we’re naturally having fun, and I think it allows the audience to have fun with us.”
