Sunday’s TNA Bound For Glory 2025 event in Lowell, Massachusetts featured the TNA X-Dvision Championship match between WWE NXT’s Je’Von Evans and champion Leon Slater going to a no contest. This quickly lead to a loud negative reaction from the crowd and on social media over the match’s booking.
Sports Illustrated’s Jon Alba reported that his sources stated that WWE had a “significant say” in the creative plans for the finish to the match between Evans and Slater at TNA’s event.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that WWE and TNA officials currently collaborate on booking decisions and talent usage as part of their working partnership. Alba reported that TNA President Carlos Silva had informed them during a recent interview that any creative for talents they share, like Joe Hendry, is a shared process between the two companies.
Alba reported that those spoken to stated that WWE has “a lot of pull” when its talents are used on TNA programming.
Alba also reported that those spoken to had indicated that even before the finish to the match, it was expected that Evans and Slater would be having a rematch. One source spoken to reportedly stated that they believed the rematch would potentially be taking place at WWE’s upcoming NXT Halloween Havoc 2025 show.
