Young Bucks Turns Down Don Callis Family Offer & Reunites The Elite

Saturday’s AEW Full Gear 2025 event at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey featured The Young Bucks’ Matt & Nick Jackson turning down Don Callis’ offer to join the Don Callis Family and reunited with Kenny Omega and Jack Perry to reform The Elite.

This was initially setup over recent weeks shows over Don Callis trying to persuade The Young Bucks to join his group and forget everything about Omega. Following the Young Bucks & Josh Alexander’s victory over Omega & Jurassic Express (Perry & Luchasaurus) in a $1 Million Trios match, Callis and the rest of the Don Callis Family got into the ring to celebrate with the Young Bucks. Callis handed two bags of money to the Young Bucks and proclaimed they have joined his family. As Callis and the Young Bucks left the ring, Alexander looked at Omega and proceeded to attack him leading to the rest of the Callis Family joining in. This led to the Young Bucks looking on being unsure of what to do as the crowd chanted “you sold out” to them. The Young Bucks then made their actual decision tossing the bags of money away and ran to the ring to save Omega and Jurassic Express.

After helping clear the ring of the Don Callis Family, the Young Bucks shook hands with Jurassic Express and gave a hug to Omega officially reuniting The Elite.

Saturday’s AEW Full Gear 2025 event also featured AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada, Konosuke Takeshita, and Kyle Fletcher officially declaring themselves for this year’s Continental Classic tournament.

Current field for 2025 Continental Classic:

  • AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada
  • Konosuke Takeshita
  • Kyle Fletcher

HOOK Turns on Hangman Page & Helps Samoa Joe Win AEW World Title

Saturday’s AEW Full Gear 2025 event featured HOOK turning heel on Hangman Adam Page and helping Samoa Joe defeat Page to become the new AEW World Champion.

Near the end of the match, the Opps’ Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs came out to interfere after the referee was accidentally laid out. This led to Eddie Kingston running out to deal with Shibata and pulled him away while Page managed to stand on his own against Hobbs. This caused enough of a distraction for Joe to lock in a Coquina Clutch to Page who fought it off and sent Joe into the exposed turnbuckle. Page then hit a Buckshot Lariat and went for a pinfall only for the referee to still be down. This led to HOOK running out and tried to revive the referee. This turned out to be a ruse and he grabbed the AEW World title and with a smirk, proceeded to hit Page with it instead. HOOK then unzipped his hoodie revealing an Opps shirt underneath it and revealing he never actually left the group. Joe then grabbed Page and hit a Muscle Buster for the pinfall victory to become the new champion.

Swerve Strickland Makes Surprise Return and Helps Hangman Page

Saturday’s AEW Full Gear 2025 event also featured Swerve Strickland making his surprise return.

Following Samoa Joe’s victory over Hangman Adam Page in a Steel Cage match to win the AEW World Championship, Joe, The Opps with HOOK, and Joe’s Opps’ Dojo guys celebrated in the ring. This led to the lights going out and a video being shown on the big screen of a house on fire resembling Strickland’s childhood home that Page had burnt months ago. This led to Prince Nana showing up on the stage and new music playing for Strickland, who came out to the ring.

Joe then told everyone to step aside and welcomed Strickland to the ring and pointed to the laid out Page for him to do whatever he wants to him. As Strickland made his way in the ring, he stopped and laid out one of the Opps’ goons leading to a brawl breaking out that ended with Strickland laying out all of the Dojo guys except one as Joe, Shibata, HOOK, and Powerhouse Hobbs left the ring. The last Dojo guy was left to Page who laid him out with a Buckshot Lariat. Page and Strickland then stood side by side and looked at The Opps as the show went to a close.
