Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite & Collision 3-hour show in Boston, Massachusetts featured Josh Alexander & The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) defeating SkyFlight (Scorpio Sky & Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin)). Alvarez reported that the nature of Sky’s injury nor if he will be out of action for any time is currently not known.
AEW Reportedly Very Interested in Hyan & Maya World
As noted before, Miranda Alize and Nixon Newell (former Tegan Nox in WWE) were involved in a backstage incident at the November 8th AEW Collision show in Houston, Texas. This incident revolved around Alize and Newell’s issues with their booking for the show that was later revealed to be over them getting less time than they wanted for their scheduled tag team squash match loss against TayJay (Tay Melo & Anna Jay) and walked out in response. Indie talents Hyan and Maya World filled in for Alize and Newell after the walk out incident and have competed in several additional matches in AEW and ROH since then.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that Hyan and World are currently not signed to contracts with AEW but they have recently drawn great interest from the company for potential deals.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that Hyan and World have received high praise for their recent appearances in AEW. Those spoken to reportedly also stated the almost 8-minute tag team match Hyan and World had against Alex Windsor and Riho at last week’s Collision show was a “direct result” of how well they performed the previous week.
Konosuke Takeshita Comments on His Talks with Kenny Omega About Coming To AEW
ENCOUNT held a recent interview with Konosuke Takeshita. One of the topics discussed included Takeshita’s thoughts about the process that led to him joining AEW in 2021 and the conversations he had with Kenny Omega about it.
“I might not have properly shared this before, but I actually consulted (Sanshiro) Takagi. This year marked my 10th year as a professional wrestler, so I said, ‘I’ve been doing this for 10 years, so I want to go to America.’ He said, ‘Go ahead and do it,’ and didn’t say anything negative about it. So, I contacted Kenny Omega, who is also my professional wrestling mentor in a way, for the first time in years and asked if I could wrestle in AEW, even if it was just a dark match. Kenny said, ‘I’ll give it a go,’ and encouraged me by saying I can’t do a TV match straight away, but if it’s okay to do a dark match, why don’t you try it? That’s how I decided to go to America.”
