As noted before, Miranda Alize and Nixon Newell (former Tegan Nox in WWE) were involved in a backstage incident at this past Saturday’s AEW Collision show in Houston, Texas. This incident revolved around Alize and Newell’s issues with their booking for the show that was later revealed to be over them getting less time than they wanted for their scheduled tag team squash match loss against TayJay (Tay Melo & Anna Jay) and walked out in response. Alize and Newell recently addressed the incident in a Twitch stream claiming that there was no bad blood on either side over the situation and denied the reports about them causing incidents backstage in AEW.
Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that several people within AEW had reached out to Newell and Alize following their Twitch stream on November 9th. AEW official Bryan Danielson reportedly also had spoken to them following their AEW debut match for the November 1st Collision show.
Danielson reportedly was stated to have been “disappointed” with the walkout and the match change caused by it at this past Saturday’s Collision show. Danielson reportedly felt that their actions did not align with AEW’s creative plans and direction.
It was reported that Newell and Alize’s behavior had rubbed AEW’s locker room the wrong way and several members of the AEW and ROH’s female talent expressed that they would have “loved for even three minutes on Collision.” This was in reference to Newell and Alize complaining about only getting that much time for their scheduled tag team match against TayJay.
Those spoken to within AEW reportedly stated that had Alize not been active on social media regarding the internal conflict between her, Newell, and AEW, the situation could have “ended smoothly” and innocuously for all parties.
In regards to Newell’s past comments about a lack of bookings after her WWE release, it was reported that two indie promotions had issues with Newell when they had tried to book her for their shows. One indie promotion reportedly ceased their talks with Newell after some undisclosed asks from her that was beyond what they were comfortable in giving to her. Another indie promotion reportedly claimed that Newell had walked out of an event for them after she had been scheduled for a surprise appearance and spot during a match leaving her planned tag team partner and the promotion out to dry.
Following the release of the report, it was reported that Newell had reached out to Fightful denying ever meeting with Danielson nor the indie show walk out. Newell stated “All false information. We have never met Bryan in person. As for the indie show, I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Newell also claimed that she was not informed about the plans for the run-in spot at an indie event until after her match and claimed she had a flight to catch in an hour.
