As noted before, Miranda Alize and Nixon Newell (former Tegan Nox in WWE) were involved in a backstage incident prior to the start of Saturday’s AEW Collision show in Houston, Texas. This incident revolved around Alize and Newell’s issues with their booking for the show that was later revealed to be over them getting less time than they wanted for their scheduled tag team match against TayJay (Tay Melo & Anna Jay). These issues resulted in Alize and Newell walking out from the show and being replaced by Hyan and Maya World.
Newell issued an official statement earlier today on Twitter stating “Not everything you read is true. Remember that.”

Fightful Select reported that their sources provided additional details regarding Newell and Alize’s walk out incident.
It was reported that those spoken to confirmed that Newell and Alize did not refuse to lose their match and instead had asked for more time than was budgeted that was rejected due to the times for the show was already budgeted out.
It was also reported that those spoken to also confirmed that Hyan and Maya World were praised backstage for filling in on a short notice. Both Hyan and World had worked that night’s ROH TV tapings that took place prior to AEW’s Collision show. Hyan and World reportedly were stated to be “over the moon” about the last-minute opportunity for the match.
In regards to the general reaction within AEW, it was reported that staff and talent spoken to were disappointed about the matter. One staff member spoken to reportedly stated that Newell and Alize are talented and there was a push within the company to help Newell over her lack of bookings since her WWE release. Another staff member spoken to reportedly stated that they were disappointed by the situation and felt that it seemed out of character for Newell.
Those spoken to within AEW reportedly also stated that there was “conflicting information” in regards to the prior backstage incident involving the two in the company over how their first AEW match went down. It was reported that word had reached the locker room that Newell was not happy about the way that her and Alize’s match against Megan Bayne and Marina Shafir was put together. This unhappiness reportedly revolved around an issue of if Bayne would sell for Newell and Alize. It was reported that due to the plan to establish Bayne and Shafir as a strong new team, this was not a decision that Bayne could make on her own regarding selling for unsigned talent. It was reported that AEW talent usually know they have to clear that with coaches/producers before a match.
One source spoken to who is a longtime friend of Newell reportedly stated that the situation was a matter of Newell being excited about her debut but then becoming disappointed it would end so quickly. Another source spoken to reportedly stated that it felt like Newell wanted to get the match over with after the backstage discussion. Another source spoken to reportedly stated that they believed Bayne’s frustration during the match was legit over a perceived lack of cooperation with Newell and Alize on some spots.
In a response for comments to Fightful, Newell issued a statement denying any disagreement about her AEW debut match and claimed that her and Alize are the only ones who knows the real details of what happened backstage at Saturday’s Collision show.
“No we had no disagreement, Miranda and I are really the only ones that have the details about how yesterday went.”
