Paul Wight Comments on He Underwent Back Surgery “A Couple Months Ago” & Not Ready to Retire Yet From His In-Ring Career

A recent episode of the Notsam Wrestling podcast featured Paul Wight as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Wight revealing that he had underwent a small back surgery a couple of months ago and he is not ready to retire yet from his in-ring wrestling career.

“Dude, I’m hoping — it’s just a week-by-week thing. I had a small back surgery done a couple months ago… You play long enough, the bill comes due. I’ve had a major surgery every frickin’ year! For about the past five — whether it’s a knee surgery or a hip surgery… I feel like that old pickup truck. Like, OK, what’s broken now? I work so hard so long that when I finally stopped, the springs fell off, the tires fell off. But, we’re excited about it. I’m working with the best people I can work with in South Florida. I got a lot of great people on the team. I’ve got great support medically. Tony Khan’s been extremely supportive, so we’re just plugging away. I don’t plan on going anywhere. I like being in AEW. So it’s just getting my sh*t together and getting ready, and also, bring a good product out. The last thing I’m gonna do is go out in that ring and have people go, aww, poor Paul. They should just kill him, like Old Yeller or something. We’re not gonna have that. If I’m not out there humping and bumping and getting after everything and slapping people’s souls out of their chest and carry that presence, then it’s time to hang up the boots so I’m not ready to hang up the boots yet. We’re still moving forward, there’s progress being made. Again, everything I’m dealing with now is mostly soft tissue, getting that stuff to work and you know, we’ll get that back and we’ll be in the ring. Trust me, I see the opportunity in AEW, I see the chances too. To have fun with the talent in the back, to entertain the fans, the financial gains for being able to compete at a more full-time schedule. Yeah, believe me, I’m salivating over here, 100 percent.”

“Speedball” Mike Bailey Comments on Competing in AEW’s Continental Classic Tournament

“Speedball” Mike Bailey recently released a new vlog on his official YouTube channel. One of the topics discussed included Bailey’s thoughts about him competing in this year’s Continental Classic tournament and him feeling like the underdog in a way that he hasn’t felt so far in AEW.

“I think I’ve been putting off talking about it because it was a heartbreaking start to my Continental classic. A rough defeat to the Bastard, PAC. I didn’t need that loss. I needed that win. I feel like the underdog in that tournament in a way that I haven’t felt in AEW since I got there.”

Bailey also gave his thoughts about how his time with Kevin Knight as JetSpeed has been a blessing for him but he also has been looking forward to getting back to doing singles matches with this year’s Continental Classic tournament.

“Okay, hello friends, it’s Wednesday, you know that means, we are in Nashville for the beginning of the Continental Classic. We’ve got some Blue League and Gold League matches announced for Dynamite, but there’s more coming up on Collision, which is filmed later today, and I think I might be starting off with a real big one tonight, so I’m pumped. I am super excited for the Continental Classic. I can’t tell you guys, it’s been- Jet Speed has been amazing. It’s been a blessing. Every single match we’ve had has been super fun, but I am really looking forward to getting back to doing some singles matches, to working as a singles wrestler, especially with everyone that’s up in the Gold League. Me versus Kyle Fletcher, me versus Okada, me versus Kevin, me versus Darby, and also me versus Pac, all fucking bangers. So, a lot of excitement, but a lot of pressure today, and I’m feeling it.”
